1. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to wilfully set on
fire any gQs escaping from broken or leaking mains, service pipes, meters, valves

result in the diversion of gas before being metered to a consumer by said person,
company or corporation, or when there is evidence of damage to a meter, valve or
any other appliance for the purpose of preventing said equipment from functioning
properly or registerinJ gas consumed, it shall constitute prima facie evidence of
knowledge on behalf of the person or persons having custody or control of the pre-
mises, or place where such device is located, of the existence thereof, and the
effect of such devices and shall constitute prima facie evidence of the intention
of such person or persons to defraud, take and steal gas from the main, pipes,
valves, meters or other equipment without knowledge, authorit;,► or consent of such
person, firm or corporation furnishing gas to consumers, and shall bring such per-
son or persons prima facie within the scope, meaning and penalties of this Ordinance*
3. Any person violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be
