HomeMy WebLinkAbout5366ORDINANCE NO. 5366 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS TO ACCEPT BIDS FOR AND ENTER INTO A CONTRACT TO PURCHASE FIVE (5) MOTOR CYCLES FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, SETTING FORTH THE MANNER OF PAYNENT;DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS SECTION 1. From a nd after the passage of this ordinance the Mayor and Board of Public Affairs shall be, and they hereby are, authorized to advertise for bids for five (5) 1936 model motor cycles to be used by the Police Department of the City of Little Rock. Said motor cycles shall be equipped with the follow- ing equipment: Rear wheel siren, safety guard, jiffy stand, ride con- trol, steering damper.,­ 100 mile recording speedometer, set of pursuit lights, C. & H. full floating saddle, or saddle comparative thereto, radio receiving set. SECTION 2. Upon receipt of bids by the Mayor and Board of Public Affairs said officials shall then determine which of the bids is for the best interest of the City of Little Rock and are hereby authorized to enter intq a contract for the purchase of said motor cycles. Payment of said motor cycles shall be in eight (8) monthly payments beginning January 1, 19372 the last payment to be made on August 1, 1937. SECTION 3. 'whereas, the motorcycles now used by the Little hock Police Department are in a bad state of repair and whereas it is necessary that said motor cycles be immediately re- placed so that the effectiveness of the Little Rock Police Depart- ment traffic squad shall not be decreased; and whereas, it is for the interest of the peace, health and safety of the citizens of the City of Little ock that these motor cycles be immediately pur- chased, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
