AN ORDINANCE GRANTING THE ARKANSAS LOUISIANA GAS COMPANY AUTHORITY TO CONSTRUCT AND MAINTAIN GAS PRESSURE REGULATOR STATIONS ON 26TH STREET WEST YRON` RICE STREET, ON RICE STREET SOUTH FROM 7TH STREET AND UNDER ASHER AVENUE VIADUCT IN LITTLE ROCK, ARY."SAS. WHEREAS, the Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company desires to construct and maintain three gas pressure Regulating Stations, 12 x 12 feet in size, on 26th Street west of Rice Street; on Rice Street, 140 feet south of 7th Street, and under Asher Avenue Viaduct west of east abutment for the purpose of increasing the efficien:y of its gas service for residents of the City of Little Rock, and WHEREAS, it has been ascertained the locations hereinbefore described ' are in public streets or on property no longer devoted to public use, and that the aforesaid gas pressure regulating stations to be maintained are silent in operation and will not constitute a nuisance or hazard to surrounding property, now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUITCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSASs SECTION 1. That the Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company is hereby authorized to construct and maintain gas pressure regulating stations, not to exceed 12 x 12 feet in size, on West 26th Street west of Rice Street; on Rice Street 140 feet south of West 7th Street, and under east abutment of Asher Avenue viaduct, so long as aforesaid locations shall not be required for public travel or use; and provided the sites shall be used for no other purpose than herein granted and that gas pressure regulators shall be erected and maintained to conform with all fire and building ordinances now in effect in the City of Little Rock, Arkansas; provided, however, that the Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company shall not make use of the privileges granted under this ordinance unless and until it has filed with the City Clerk its written consent to remove any structure erected under the provi sions of this ordinance upon sixty (60) days notice in writing from the City Council that the location occupied by such structure is needed by the City for its own or public use* SECTION 2. It is ascertained and declared that the improvements to the gas distributing system of the Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company hereby authorized are immediately necessary for the health, safety and welfare of the inhabitants of the City of Little Rock, and an emergency is found to exist and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force after its passage* PasNICity d ,Y 31, 1937• Clerk.
