HomeMy WebLinkAbout5494ORDINANCE N0. 54 ?4 AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A SPECIAL TAX ON MOTOR- PROPELLED VEHICLES KNOWN AS "MOTOR GLIDES" AND SIMILAR MACHINES AS DESCRIBED HEREIN; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: Section 1. For the operation of vehicles known as Motor Glides or similar vehicles described as being a motorized conveyance heavier than a bicycle and lighter than a motorcycle and propelled by motor, there is hereby levied an annual tax of Two and 50 /100 ($2.50) Dollars. Section 2. Any resident of the City of Little Rock owning and operating such vehicle upon the streets of this City shall make application for license for same, display said license on said vehicle and in all other respects comply with all exist- ing ordinances and regulations governing the owning and operating of motor - propelled vehicles known as "Motorcycles," it being the intention of this ordinance, because of the weight and size of said P.iotor Glides or similar vehicles as described in Section 1 hereof, to provide a special tax thereon. Section 3. The tax collected under the terms of this ordinance shall be placed in the same fund and be used for the same purposes as that collected for the operation of Motorcycles. Section 4. WHEREAS, there are many residents of the City of Little Rock desirous of purchasing the type of Motorcycle des- cribed herein, and, whereas, the City of Little Rock is in need of the funds from the tax levied hereby, and it being ascertained that the immediate operation of this ordinance will be for the benefit of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval.
