HomeMy WebLinkAbout5736jo-l" -^' ORDINANCE # 5736 AN ORDINANCE DECLARING CERTAIN PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF LITTLE E.00ti TO BE A NUISANCE, ORDERING ITS REMOVAL; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF 1HE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS SECTION 1. That whereas, the owners of the following described property to-wit: 1514 McGowan Street 1516 McGowan Street have allowed the buildings located on said property to de- teriorate to the extent that said buildings have been found by the Health Officer of the Little Rock City Council to be hazardous in that they, and each of them, constitute a fire hazard, and in addition are dangerous to the life and limb of the public; and same and each of them are hereby declared to be nuisances. And the Chief of Polite is hereby instruct- ed to serve the owner or owners of each of said pieces of property with a copy of this Ordinance and notify said awner or owners that the respective pieces of property must either be torn down and removed or remodeled within thirty days from the date hereof. SECTION 2. In the event the owner or owners of any of said pieces of property cannot be located, the Chief of Police is instructed to serve said notice by posting a copy of this Ordinance on the front door of each of said build- ings and report such action to the Fire Committee of the City Council. SECTION 3. Any owner or owners of any of the within described property failing or refusing to conform to the provisions of this ordinance, shall be dea_med Guilty of misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof in the Little Lock Municipal Court shall be fined in an;- sum not less than Twenty -five Dollars ($25.00) nor more than Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00). SECTION 4. The City Attorney is hereby authorized and instructed to proceed to take all necessary court ac- tion in order to secure the removal of the property herein 4r r _2_ declared to be a nuisance if same is not removed or re- modeled within thirty days of the date hereof. SECTION 5. Due to the constant fire hazard and the danger that these pieces of property present to the pub- lic safety an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the immediate preser- vation of the public peace, health, and safety, and the same shall be in full force and effect from end after its passage and approval.
