BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE Section 1• The salaries of the Little Rock Fire Department are hereby fixed the following schedule, to -wit: 1st Assistant Chief 2nd Assistant Chief 3rd Assistant Chief & Inspector Mechanic Asst. DEFINITION OF CERTAIN EMPLOYEES OF THE LITTLE ROCK FIRE DEPARTMENT. For the purpose of this ordinance, the following terms used in describing and fixing salaries in the Fire Department are defined =' -A-S f u l l ows s (a) First year firemen employed prior to IJay 1, 1940, refers to employees who have served one year or less and who were employed prior to May 1, 1940. (b) First year firemen employed after May 1, 1940, refers to employees who have served one year or less and who were employed subsequent to May 1, 1940- AV,- sZ (c) Second year firemen refers to employees who have served more than one year and less than two years. (d) Third year firemen refers to employees who have served more than two years and less than three years. (e) Fourth year firemen refers to employees who have served more than three years•_ � Seotion 3. Whereas, it is necessary in order to provide adequately for the health, peace and wellbeing of the citizens of Little Rock that the salary schedules set out in this ordinance shall take effect at the earliest possible time, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance is found to be necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safe- ty, and the.same shall be in full force and effect in all of its terms from and after January 1, 1941, and all ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
