JONES, DOING BUSINESS AS CITIZENS BENCH
COMPANY, TO PLACE ARTIS`T'IC ADVERTISING BENCHES
ALONG STREET CAR AND BUS ROUTES IN THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK.
WH1i.REAS, IN VIEW OF THE FACT THAT THE CITIZENS OF LITTLE ROCK WHO
TRIXEL IN THE CITY BY MEANS OF STREET CAR AND BUS HAVE NO FACILITY
TO REST WHILE IN WAITING FOR TRANSPORTATION AND FOR THE FREE USE
OF THE PUBLIC,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIT1TLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor and the City Clerk of the
City of Little Rock, Arkansas, do enter and grant unto Harry L.
Jones, doing business as the Citizens Bench Company of Little
with option renewal for 5 years
Nock, Arkansas, an exclusive five year franchise /to place artistic

advertising benches along the street car and bus routes in the City �
of Little Rock, where they may be of comfort to persons vrho are in
waiting for a bus or street car and to the free use of the public,

subject to the following.

SECTION 2. That Harry L. Jones, doing business as
Citizens Bench Company, is hereby granted an exclusive five year'
with option renewal for 5 ears, upon such terms as the City

franchise /to place artistic adveri-isinc benches along street car

and bus routes in the City of Little Rock and is hereby granted

permission to sell as advertising space the front and back rest of

these benches for advertising purposes and that for the privilege
f
of placing these benches with advertising, Harry L. Jones, doing

business as the Citizens Bench Company, agrees to pay to the City

of Little Rock, City Collector, the sum of Three Dollars (`3.00) per?

year per bench, payable immediately upon the placing of any said

bench. That before any of said benches are placed upon the street
car and bus routes of the City of Little Rock, a permit must be
issued and location approved by the City Engineer with the further
approval of the Aldermen of the respective Ward where bench is to
be located, and also with the approval and consent of property
owner .
SLVTION 3. That all benches to be placed by the said
IT L. Jones, doing business as Citizens Bench Company, will be
according to the plans and specifications set out in Petition and
on file in the City Clerks Office. Each bench will be approximately
7 feet long and 2 feet vride and the sides of benches will be made
out of solid white concrete and seat and back will be made out of
seasoned wood that will be painted green enamel and any part of
seat or back can be replaced by the adjusting of set screws. All
benches at all times to be kept in first class condition and repair,
no bench will at any ti.r,e «chile being repaired nave any suet paint.
No beer or liquor advertisements are to be placed on said benches.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance is approved for all street
car and bus routes in the City of Little Rock except the following
in the business district of the city:
Excluding Pain Street from Markham Street to Ninth
Street, exclude West 5th Street from 'Main Street
to Spring Street, exclude Nest lVarkham Street from
11ain Street to Spring Street and exclude East
Markham from Ivlain Street to Rector Avenue.
SECTION 5. All ordinances and parts of ordinances, insofar
as they conflict herewith, are hereby repealed, and this ordinance
shall take effect and be in force thirty days (30) fro:, and after
its passage and approval.
