OF THE PUBLIC..
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor and the City Clerk of the
City of Little Rock, Arkansas, do enter and grant unto Harry L.
Jones, doing business as the Citizens Bench Company of Little
Rock, Arkansas, a five year franchise to place artistic advertis-
ing benches along the street car and bus routes in the City of
Little Rock where they may be of comfort to persons wl are in
waiting for a bus or street car and to the free use of the public,
subject to the following.
SECTION 2. That Harry L. Jones, doing business as Citizens
Bench Company, is hereby granted a five year franchise to place
artistic advertising benches along street car and bus routes in the
City of Little Hock and is hereby granted permission to sell as
advertising space the front and back rest of these benches for
advertising purposes and that for the privilege of placing these
benches with advertising Harry L. Jones, doing business as Citizens
Bench Company, agrees to pay to the City of Little Rock, City Collect-
or, the sum of Three Dollars 03.00) per year per bench, payable
immediately upon the placing of said bench. Before any of said
benches are placed upon the street car and bus routes of the City
of Little Rock a permit must be issued and location approved by the
City Engineer with the future approval of the Aldermen of the res-
pective Ward where bench is to be located, and also with the approval
and consent of property owner.
SECTION 3. That all benches to be placed by the said
Harry L. Jones, doing business as Citizens BEich Company, will be
according to the plans and specifications set out in Petition and
on file in the City Clerk's Office. Each bench will be approx-
imately 7 feet long and 2 feet wide and the sides of benches will
be made out of solid white concrete and seat and back will be made
out of seasoned wood that will be painted green enamel and any part of
seat or back can be replaced by the adjusting of set screws. All
benches at all times to be kept in first class condition and repair,
no bench will at any time while being repaired have any wet paint.
SECTION 4. That at no time during the existence of this
contract and franchise will there be any whiskey, beer or wine
advertisements placed on said benches.
SECTION 5. This Ordinance is approved for all street
car and bus routes in the City of Little Rock except the following
in the business district of the city:
Excluding !Jain Street from Markham Street to Ninth
Street, exclude West 5th Street from Main Street
to Spring Street, exclude West Markham Street from
Main Street to Spring Street and exclude East
Markham from 1,1ain Street to Rector Avenue.
SECTION 6. All ordinances and parts of ordinances,
insofar as they conflict herewith, are hereby repealed, and this
ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty days (30) from
and after its passage and approval.
