AN ORDINANCE TO AUTHORIZE AND DIRECT THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK TO ANNUALLY LEVY A TAX OF NOT MORE
THAN ONE MILL ON THE ASSESSED VALUE OF THE REAL AND PERSONAL
PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING PENSIONS
TO RETIRED POLICEMEN, AND PENSIONS TO WIDOWS AND MINOR
CHILDREN OF DECEASED POLICEMEN AND WIDOWS AND MINOR CHILDREN
OF DECEASED RETIRED POLICEMEN.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Little
Rock shall, on or before the time fixed by law for levying
county taxes, make out and certify to the county clerk the
rate of taxation levied by the City of Little Rock on the
real and personal property within the City, not to,exeeed
one mill on the dollar of the assessed value, for the purpose
of paying pensions to retired policemen, and pensions to
widows and minor children of deceased policemen and widows
and minor children of deceased retired policemen, as provid-
ed by law. The Council shall make the rate of taxation, not
to exceed one mill on the dollar of the assessed value of the
real and personal property within the City of Little Rock,
sufficient-to-raise and provide such amount of money as the
Board of Trustees of the Policemen's Pension and Relief Fund
certifies to the Council will be required to pay pensions to
retired policemen, and pensions to widows and minor children
of deceased policemen and widows and minor children of
deceased retired policemen,for the following gear. If the
amount certified to the Council by said Board of Trustees is
re`than a levy of one mill will produce, the Council shall,
make the full levy of one mill.
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect and be
in force from and after its approval by the people of the
j City of Little Rock.
