HomeMy WebLinkAbout6175F INITIATED ORDINANCE NO. 6175 AN ORDINANCE TO AUTHORIZE AND DIRECT THE - CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK TO ANNUALLY LEVY A TAX OF NOT UORE THAN ONE MILL ON THE ASSESSED VALVE OF THE REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING PENSIONS TO RETIRED FIREMEN, AND PENSIONS TO WIDOWS AND MINOR CHILDREN OF DECEASED PIREUEN -AND' WID0 AND._UINOR CHILDREN OF DECEASED BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. Thee City Council of the City of Little Rock shall,. on or before the time fixed by law for levying county taxes, make out.and certify.to the County Clerk the rate of taxation levied by the City of Little Rock on the real and personal property within the City, not to exceed one mill on the dollar of the assessed value, for the purpose of paying pensions to retired firemen, and pensions to widows and minor children of deceased firemen, and widows and minor children of deasaoed retired firemen, as provided by law. The Council shall Make the rate of taxation, not to exceed one mill on the dollar of the assessed value of the real and personal property within the City of Little Rock, sufficient to raise and provide such amount of money as the Board of Trustees of the Firemen's Pension and Relief Fund certifies to the Council will be required to pay pensions to retired firemen, and pensions to widows and minor children of deceased firemen and widows and minor children of decreased retired firemen, for the following year. If the amount certified to the Council by said Board of Trustees is more than a : fvy of one mill will produce, the Council shall make the full levy of one mill. SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its approval by the . people of the City of Little Rock. PASSED BY MAJORITY VOTE OF THE PEOPLE IN CITY GENERAL.
