RESOLUTION NO. 13,647
A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO
4 EXECUTE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS TO ACQUIRE RESIDENTIAL
5 PROPERTY LOCATED AT 5017 MARYLAND AVENUE, FOR A
6 PURCHASE PRICE OF TWENTY -SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS
7 ($26,000.00) AND 921 VAN BUREN STREET, FOR A PURCHASE PRICE
8 OF EIGHTY -FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS ($84,000.00), FOR USE AS
9 PARK PROPERTY IN WAR MEMORIAL PARK; AND FOR OTHER
10 PURPOSES.

12 WHEREAS, in October 2011, the Little Rock Board of Directors authorized the negotiation of the
13 sale of 3.82 acres of the City's interest in Ray Winder Field to UAMS and committed to reinvesting the
14 sale proceeds to the purchase of land in order to offset the loss of City park acreage; and,
15 WHEREAS, the residential properties located at 921 Van Buren Street and 5017 Maryland Avenue
16 are two (2) of twelve (12) parcels identified as being west of Jonesboro Drive and located south of
17 Interstate 630, and these acquisitions by the City will help to accommodate future park development that
18 will complement the Central Arkansas Library System's Children's Library; and,
19 WHEREAS, the acquisition of this property represents the fourth and fifth of the twelve (12) parcels
20 to become a part of the War Memorial Park acreage; and,
21 WHEREAS, the City has negotiated the purchase of the property at 921 Van Buren Street for the
22 amount of Eighty-Four Thousand Dollars ($84,000.00) and the purchase of the property at 5017
23 Maryland Avenue for the amount of Twenty-Six Thousand Dollars ($26,000.00);
24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
25 OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
26 Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to execute appropriate
27 documents to acquire property at 921 Van Buren Street, for the amount of Eighty-Four Thousand Dollars
28 ($84,000.00), and 5017 Maryland Avenue, for the amount of Twenty-Six Thousand Dollars ($26,000.00)
29 for use as a public park for the future expansion of War Memorial Park.
30 Section 3. Funds for this purchase are available from the proceeds of the sale of the City's interest in
31 Ray Winder Field to the Board of Trustees of the University of Arkansas.
32 Section 4. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
33 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or

adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and
effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the
resolution.
Section 5. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are inconsistent
with the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
