AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 6249; REPEALING
ALL ORDINANCES I CONFLICT; DECLARING AN Ei_ERGENCY
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSASs
SECTION 1. Section four of Ordinance 6249 as amended
of the ordinances of the City of L;ttle Rock, Ark -ansas is
amended to read as follows:
"Whenever any 2erson is found guilty of violating
Section one and/or Section two of this ordinance, such fact
shall be reported by the Clerk of the Municipal Court to the
City Health Officer; and on such conviction, the '�Iunicipal
Judge or the City: Health Officer is authorized to cause such
person to be detained and examined by the City Health Officer,
or by any physician designated by the City health Officer, by
use of the necessary tests and examinations, including the
' Wassermann blood test, to ascertain the presence o f azy venereal
disease in a communicable stage, provided that any evidence so
acquired shall not be used against such person in any criminal
prosecution.
SECTION 2. Section five of Ordinance 6249 as a4iended pf
the ordinances of the City of �ittle Rock, Arkansas is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"Whenever any person, after the examination provided for
in section four of this ordinance, is found to be infected with
a venereal disease in a communicable stage, the City Health
Officer may, pending the imposition of or at the expiration of
any jail sentence imposed on such person, when in the exercise of
hi discretion he believes that the public health requires it,
commit such person found to be infected with a venereal disease
in a communicable stage to a hospital or any other place
designated by the City Health Officer as a place of quarantine,
in the State of Arkansas for such treatment, even over the objection
i
of such.person so diseased or infected, provided the comrUtment
can be done without endangering the life of the patient.
SECTION 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict kre hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. WHEREAS, The suppression add punishment of
vice and immpral practices in the City of Little Rook, and the
detection and treatment of venereal diseases being a matter of
great public concern and directly affects the public health Bald
being vital to the peace, health and safety, an emergency is
hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full
force and effect from and after its .passage end approval*
