AN ORDINANCE ABOLISHING THE ZOO DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS; CREATING THE ZOO DIVISION OF THE
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS;
FIXING THE DUTIES OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF THE ZOO DIVISION;
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
' SECTION 1. The Zoo Division of the Department of Public
Works of,the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, is hereby created;
the duties and functions heretofore performed and discharged
by the Zoo Department and the positions of employment therein
are hereby transferred to the Zoo Division of the Department
of Public Works of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, created
by this ordinance.
SECTION 2. The Zoo Department (as created under Ordinance
No. 6407 of the Ordinances of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas)
is hereby abolished.
SECTION 3. The Superintendent shall be the head of the
Zoo Division created by this ordinance subject to the
general control of the City Engineer.
SECTION 4. Whereas the efficient administration of a
Municipal Zoo is of vital importance to the health and the
safety of the population at large, an emergency is hereby
declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage.
