AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO
INVEST TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS($10,000.00) OUT OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
CONSTRUCTION FUND IN UNITED STATES SAVINGS BONDS SERIES F; EAR-
MARKING THE BONDS PURCHASED FOR,CERTAIN SPECIFIC USES IN THE LITTLE
ROCK FIRE DEPARTMENT; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rook now has in the Fire Department
Construction Fund in excess of Ten.Thousand Dollars (,10,000.00), and
WE NAS, said funds have been accumulated for the
other things, of constructing and furnishing fire stations, and
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the City of Little Rock will
eventually need a fire station at or near 22nd and Peyton Streets
in the City of Little Rock, now therefor
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and
directed to invest out of the Fire Department Construction Fund the
sum of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000900) in United States Savings
Bonds Series F, said obligations to be purchased in denominations
I appropriate for the purposes hereinafter set out. The Mayor and
City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to issue the warrant
of the City on the fund named in the amount mentioned for the purchase
of said bonds.
SECTION 2. When the City Treasurer receives the bonds mentioned
in Section 1 of this ordinance, he shall hold said bonds for the
following purposes:
For the construction of a fire station and purchase
'j of furnishings therefor, said station to be constructed
at or near 22nd and Peyton Streets in the City of
Lithe Rook, Arkansas.
SECTION 3. The bonds mentioned in the preceding seations.of this,
ordinance are hereby earmarked and dedicated and their proceeds set

aside to be used for the purposes set out in Section 29
SECTION 4. Because the City of Little Rook now`has surplus money
in its Fire Department Construction Fund; and because it is the
patriotic responsibility of citizens and the City of Little Rock to
make available to the United States of America any surplus funds;
and because through the purchase of these bonds the City may safely
obtain a return on the moneys invested in bonds; and because the
purchase of these bonds will assist in the prosecution of the war
effort, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordin-
ance, being necessary for the preservation of the public peace,

after its passages.
