HomeMy WebLinkAbout6684ORDINANCE NO. 6684 AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE SALARY OF THE SPECIAL POLICE (WHITE) EMPLOYED IN THE LITTLE ROCK POLICE DEPARTMENT; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES . BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARI:ANSAS: SECTION 1. The salary of Special.Police (white) in the City of Little Rock Police Department is hereby fixed as follows: 1st year Special Policemen (1, hite) - J147.50 per month 2nd year Special Policemen (White) - $157.50 per month Patrolmen - X165.00 per month SECTION 2. The Special Policemen (White) now or hereafter em- ployed in the Little Rock Police Department shall receive the monthly salaries set opposite the respective classifications as set out in Section 1 of this ordinance, and said salaries shall be paid at the time and in the manner that other salaries in the Little Pock Police Department are paid. In determining the qualifications of first year policemen, 2nd year policemen, and patrolmen, the same period of service shall be used as a test as is used among the other employees of the Police Department. SECTION 3. The salary schedule fixed in Section 1 of this ordin- ance shall be effective as of and after August 1, 1944. SECTION 4. Because the salaries now paid to the Special Policemen (white) in the Little Rock Police Department are substantially inferior to other salaries in the Police Department; and because the Special Policemen are thereby receiving less for their services for the same duties than other employees; and because thereby it is difficult to attract and retain responsible men among the Special Policemen (white); and because this ordinance will correct the above situation, an emer- gency is hereby declared to exist, and this ordinance, being necessary for the public peace, health and safety, shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage.
