HomeMy WebLinkAbout6702ORDINANCE NO. 6702 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE RATE OF TAXATION OF PROPERTY FOR CITY PURPOSES FOR THE YEAR 1944 FOR VARIOUS FUNDS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: • j SECTION 1. That the rate of taxation on real and personal' property in the City of Little Rock for certain City purposes for the year 1944, be and the same is hereby fixed and established and levied as follows: For General purposes in order to carry on the affairs of the City Government under Section 4, Article 12, of the Constitution of 1874, there is hereby levied a tax of Five (5) mills. For the purpose of paying Bonds and Interest of the City of Little Rock as may be required in the Funding Bond issue of May lots 1925, and refunding issue of November let, 1935, and refunding issue of November 1st, 1938, a tax of three (3) mills for the year 1944 is hereby levied; and Ordinance No. 3789 is hereby amended only insofar as to apply to levy for the year 1944. For the purpose of paying Bonds and Interest, of the City of Little'Rock as may be required in the Airport, Fire Equipment and Hospital Annex Bond issue of November lot, 1929, a tax of Ninety Hundredths (.90) of a mill for the year 1944 is hereby levied. For the purpose of paying Bonds and Interest of the City of Little Rock as may be required in the Municipal Auditorium Bond issue of February lot, 1937, a tax of Seventy -five Hundredths (.75) of a mill for the year 1944 is hereby levied; and Ordinance No. 5 509 is hereby amended only insofar as to apply to levy for the year 1944. For the purpose of paying Bonds and Interest of the City of Little Rock as may be required in the Library Annex Bond issue of February lot, 193j, a tax of Five Hundredths (.05) of a mill for the year 1944 is hereby levied. For the purpose of paying Bonds and Interest of the City of Little Rock as may be required in the Negro Park Bond issue of February lot, 1937, a tax of Five Hundredths (.05) of A mill for the year 1944 is hereby levied. For the purpose of paying Bonds and Interest of the City of Little Rock as may be required in the Airport Construction Bond (Second) issue of October lot, 1940, a tax of One and Five Hundredths (1.05) mills for the year 1944 is hereby levied. For the purpose of paying Bonds and Interest of the City of Little Rock as may be required in the Fair Park Improvement Bond Issue of October lot, 1940, a tax of Ten Hundredths (.10) of a mill for the year 1944 is hereby levied. f For the purpose of paying Bonds and Interest of the City of Little Rock as may be required in the Fire Department Construction Bond issue of March 1, 1941 (second issue), a tax of Ten Hundredths (.10) of a mill for the year 1944 is hereby levied. For the purpose of paying Firemen's Pensions, in accordance with the provisions of Amendment No. 31 to the Constitution of the State of Arkansas, adopted November 5, 1940, and Act 14 of the Acts of the General . Assembly of the State of Arkansas for the year 1941 and the acts amendatory thereto, a tax of One --half (j)-mill for the year 1944 is hereby levied. For the purpose of paying Policemen's Pensions, in accordance with the provisions of Amendment No. 31 to the Constitution of the State of Arkansas, adopted November 5, 1940, and Act 16 of the Acts of the General Assembly of the State of Arkansas for the year 1941 and the acts amendatory thereto, a tax of Seventy Hundredths (.70) of a mill for the year 1944 is hereby levied. For the purpose of maintaining the City Library, in accordance with the provisions of an amendment to the Constitution of the State of Arkansas, adopted November 5, 1940, a tax of One (1) mill for the year 1944 is hereby levied. SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a certified copy of this ordinance to the County Clerk of Pulaski County to the end that the taxes herein recited may be extended on the tax boobs of Pulaski County and collected with the other taxes for the year 1944. SECTION 3. Action under the terms of this ordinance is Immediately necessary if the public health program, policy and protection be not seriously curtailed, and as such curtailment would result in endangering the health, lives and property of the citizens of Little Rock, therefore an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the date of its passage.
