AN ORDINANCE REQUESTING THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA TO TAKE A
CENSUS OF CERTAIN TERRITORY RECENTLY ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK; APPROPRIATING FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS TO COVER CERTAIN
EXPENSES CONNECTED THEREWITH; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock has recently annexed certain
contiguous territory, and

for various reasons that a census be taken of the inhabitants of
the territory annexed, now therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY "COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSASt
SECTION 1. The City Council of Little Rock, Arkansas hereby
respectfully requests the Department of Commerce of the United
� States of America to take a census of the inhabitants living in
the territory recently annexed to the City of Little Rock, Arkansas.
SECTION 2. The sum of five hundred dollars ($500.00) is hereby
appropriated out of the General Funds of the City of Little Rock,
and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorised and directed to
issue the warrant of the City payable to the United States of America,
Department of Commerce,in the sum of five hundred dollars ($500.00)
drawn on the fund indicated; Said money so appropriated to be used
to defray the expenses of a census enumeration so far as said sum
will extend.
SECTION 39 The Mayor is hereby further authorized and directed
to agree, on behalf of the City, to pay any other expenses that may
be incurred in- connection with such taking of census anumerationo

SECTION 4. Because the City Council finds that it is essential
-from a variety of standpoints that an immediate census of the in-
habitants of certain territory recently annexed to the City of Little
Rook be taken forthwith; and because there is danger of substantial
financial loss to the City if said census is not taken immediately, an
emergency is hereby deolared to exist and this ordinance is found to
be necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety
and shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage. j
