ORDINANCE NO. 6753
AN ORDINANCE DIRECTING THE BOARD OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS TO MAKE A CONTRACT
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A FIRE STATION: DIRECTING THE CITY TREASURER
TO CONVERT INTO CASH CERTAIN BONDS EARMARKED FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF
A FIRE STATION; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The Board of Public Affairs is hereby authorised
and directed to make a contract in the manner provided by law for
the construction of a fire station and for the purchase of the
interior furnishings therefor; said station to be located on pro-
perty purchased by the City of Little Rock at or near 22nd and
Peyton streets in the City of Little Rock, Arkansas. The total
expenditure authorized under this ordinance not to exceed ten thousand
dollars ($10,000.00).
SECTION 2. The City Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed
to convert into cash those bonds held by him and earmarked for tsha --
construction of a fire station; Said bonds having been purchased under
the authority of Ordinance No. 6652 of the Ordinances of the City of
Little Rock, Arkansas.
SECTION 3. Because an additional fire station is needed at
22nd and Peyton streets as a result of the fire protection demands
created by the recent annexation to the City of Little Rock of
additional territories; and because without such fire station a great
portion of the City of Little Rock is without adequate fire protection,
thereby endangering the entire community; an emergency is hereby de-
clared to exist and this ordinance it found to be necessary for the
preservation of the public peace, health and safety and shall be in
full force and effect from and. after its passage.
