ORDINANCE NO. 6154
AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE SALARY OF THE ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
ROCK, ARKANSAS; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY-THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSASt
SECTION 1. The monthly salary to be paid to each Alderman of
the City of Little Rock, Arkansas is hereby fixed at one hundred
dollars ($100.00).
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be effective as of and after
April 10, 19459
SECTION 39 Because the salary now paid to Aldermen is in-
adequate and not commensurate with the duties or responsibilities of
the position of Alderman; because it is unfair and inequitable to
require Aldermen to discharge the duties of their positions without
paying an adequate salary therefor; and because there is danger that
the affairs of the City may not receive adequate attention unless a
salary is paid that is commensurate with the duties and responsibil-
ities of an Alderman, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and
this` ordinanoe is found to be necessary for the preservation of the'
public peace, health and safety and shall be in full force and effect
as of and after the date set out in Section 2 of this ordinanoe.
