AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO A
CONTRACT WITH VARIOUS AIR LINES FOR THE SERVICING OF AIRCRAFT
OPERATED BY SAID AIR LINES; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSASt
SECTION 1. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized
and directed to execute on behalf of the City of Little Rock, a
contract with the American Airlines, Inc. for the servicing of
aircraft operated by American Airlines, Inc.
SECTION 2. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized
and directed to execute on behalf of the City of Little Rock, con-
tracts with Chicago and Southern Air Lines, Inc., and Braniff
Airways, Incorporated, that will be similar in contents and form
with the "servicing agreement" mentioned in Section 1 of t hi"'s
ordinance with the following exceptions:
(1) Until such time as Braniff Airways, Incorporated

operates four daily scheduled flights through Little
Rock as shown on their published time tables, the minimum
monthly guarantee to the City of Little Rock to be realised
from the servicing agreement with Braniff Airways, In-
corporated shall be $225.00; and during such period
American Airlines, Inc. and Chicago and Southern Air Lines,
Inc. shall pay to the City of Little Rock a minimum of
$300.00. When Braniff Airways, Incorporated operates four
daily scheduled flights through Little Rock as reflected
on their ublished time tables, Braniff Airways, Incorpor-

atel shall pay a minimum monthly servicing charge of $275.00
and American Airlines, Inc. and Chicago and Southern Air
Lines, Inc. shall thereupon pay a minimum monthly servicing
charge of $275900.
SECTION 3. Because the maintenance of an efficient airport
on a 24 -hour schedule is necessary if the City of Little Rock is to
enjoy adequate air,_ transportation facilities; and because at the

present time the minimum revenue originated from servicing agreements

is not sufficient to meet the expense of maintaining various needed
employees on a 24 -hour basis, and because the contracts anticipated
under this ordinance will pay such necessary salaries; and because
this seririce is necessary to afford to the citizens of Little Rock
airport service that meets the requirements.of modern airline
transportation, an emergency is hereby de. &laced to exist and this
ordinance is found to be necessary for the preservation of the
public peace, health and safety and shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage.
