AN ORDINANCE DIRECTING THE DIRECTOR OF RECREATION TO EMPLOY PERSONS
AND PURCHASE EQUIPMENT FOR A SUMMER RECREATION PROGRAM; DECLARING All
EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The Director of Recreation is hereby authorized to
conduct a summer recreation program for the youth of the City of
Little Rock, Arkansas; and for such purpose he is authorized to
employ such persons and assistants as he deems necessary or helpful
and to purchase such equipment as he considers appropriate.
SECTION 2. To accomplish the purposes set out in Section 1 of
this ordinance, the Director of Recreation is authorized to expend
the sum of $4,000.00 per month for a period of two months following
the effective date of this ordinance.
SECTION 3. Because a recreation program is found to be vital to
the best interest of the youth of this community in order to develop
the bodies and train into citizenship the minds of the youth of Little
Rock; and because it is found that this recreation program will
accomplish these ends an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and
this ordinance is found to be necessary fcr the preservation of the
public peace, health and safety and shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage.
