HomeMy WebLinkAbout7004_- -u __.1, . ORDINANCE N0. 7004 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUB - SECTIONS 7 AND 8 OF SECTION 34 OF ORDI- NANCE NO. 4866, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. Sub - section 7 of Section 34 of Ordinance No. 4866 is hereby amended to read as follows: 7. Business buildings and storage buildings. - -For business buildings and storage buildings of firesafe and slow- burning con - struotion shall not exceed ten thousand (10,000) square feet; ordinary and all -metal construction shall not exceed six - thousand (6,000) square feet; protected -frame construction shall not exceed two thousand (2,000) square feet. Storage buildings and buildings used partly for storage of frame construction outside the fire limits may be of five thousand (5,000) square feet if over ten (10) feet from any side or rear lot line, may be seven thousand five hundred (7,500) square feet if over forty (40) feet from the side or rear lot line. SECTION 2. Sub - section 8 of Section 34 of Ordinance No. 4866 of the ordinances of the City of Little flock is hereby amended to read as follows: 8. Area modification. - -(a) The limiting areas fixed in this section may be increased by fifty (50) per cent when the building has frontage on two streets and by one hundred (100) per cent when it has frontage on three or more streets. (b) The limiting areas fixed in this section for all build- ings as modified on account of street frontage, may be doubled whenthe building is sprinklered. SECTION 3. Because an adequate building code is necessary to encourage the growth of industry and to afford needed industrial employment to the citizens of Little Rook; and because an adequate building code is necessary also in order to protect the persons and property of the citizens of Little Rock from the danger of fire; and because the above provisions of this ordinance will correct errors and defects in the existing code and will serve - 1 - to protect the citizens of Little Rock and promote their best interests; an emergency is hereby found to exist and this ordi- nance is found to be necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, and the same shall be in full force and effeot from and after its passage.
