AN ORDINANCE PERMITTING OPERATORS OF TAXICABS
TO ACT ETHER TO EDOPT METER RATES OR ZONE
RATES; PROVIDING MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM RATES TO
BE CHARGED BY OPERATORS OF TAXICABS; PROVIDING
FOR THE INSPECTION OF TAXICAB METERS; PROVIDING
FOR THE DISPLAY OF RATES CHARGED BY OPERATORS'
OF TAXICABS; REQUIRING RECEIPTS FOR TAXICAB FARES;
PROHIBITING CHARGING ADDITIONAL FARES FOR
ADDITIONAL MEMBERS OF THE SAME PARTY; DECLARING
VIOLATION-TO BE A MISDEMEANOR- REPEALING ORDI-
NANCE N0. 6664; AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 5020;
AND ORDINANCE NO. 1+968; DECLARING AN E CY;
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCKv ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 6661+ of the ordinances
of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, is hereby repealed in its
entirety.
SECTION 2. Section 1 of Ordinance No. 5020 of the
ordinances of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, is hereby repealed {
in its entirety.
SECTION 3. Each person, firm, or corporation
licensed or authorized to drive or operate a taxicab or taxic"s'
on the streets of Little Rock, Arkansas, may elect -whether to adopt
a meter rate or a zone rate.
SECTION J+. In the event such person, firm, or cor-
poration elects to adopt a meter rate, the meter rate so-adopted
shall be filed with the City Collector of the City of Little Rock,
Arkansas, and may not be less nor more than the minimum and maximum
ra ified as follows.
Minimum rates for metered taxicabs:
250 for first mile or fraction thereof.
5 for each additional half mile or
fraction thereof.

SECTION 5. No such person, firm, or corporation
electing to adopt a meter rate shall drive or operate a taxicab
unless the meter in such taxicab has been inspected by-an
appropriate employes of the City of Little Rock within thirty -
five days preceding the date of such driving or operating of such
taxicab.
SECTION 6. In computing the meter rate or fare to
be charged for taxicab service, charge shall be made on the most
direct route from the point at which the passenger began the
journey to the point of destination of sgid passenger.
SECTION 7. The zone rate for taxicab service in
the City of Little Rock shall not exceed 250 for taxicab service
within and between each of the zones as described and defined in
the plat attached hereto and made a part hereof, a certified

copy of which plat shall be kept on file in the office of the City t
Collector.
SECTION 8. Each person, firm, or corporation licensed
or aut-horized to drive or operate a taxicab or taxicabs on the
streets of Little Rock, Arkansas, shall display on both sides of
each taxicab operated by him or it the rates of fares charged by
such person, firm, or corporation, and shall further display in-
side each taxicab a rate card or zone chart.
SECTION 9. Any person, firm, or corporation accepting

a fare for taxicab service in the City of Little Rock shall give.
to the person paying the fare upon request a receipt evidencing
fthe payment of said fare, the date thereof, and the signature of
A - the person to whom the fare is paid.
SECTION 10. _No charge shall be made for extra passengers

who are actual members of a business or social group on a joint
mission with the person paying the fare.

SECTION 11. It shall be unlawful for any person,
firm or corporation licensed or authorized to drive or
operate a taxicab or taxicabs on the streets of Little Rock
or take
to solicit/as a passenger any person or persons in a passenger
zone and awaiting transportation by any street car or bus
operated by or for Capital Transportation Company.
SECTION 12. Any person, firm, or corporation ~,,Tho
violates the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty
of a misdemeanor and on conviction shall be fined in any sum

Fifty Dollars 0250.00) and imprisoned for not less than five
(5) days nor: more than thirty (30) days. In the event there
is a continuing violation of SECTION 5 of this ordinance, each
day that said taxicab is driven or operated in violation of
said SECTION 5 shall constitute a separate offense.
SECTION 13. Ordinance No. 4968 of the ordinances of
the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, is hereby amended to
conform to the foregoing provisions.
SECTION 14. The zone fare herein provided shall be in
force and effect from and after the passage of this ordinance
on a trial basis for a period of six months, and shall continue
in force and effect thereafter unless and until repealed by
the City Council.
SECTION 15. Because the public is denied and will be
denied the full use of taxicab facilities so long as the present
rate structure continues in existence, and because the public
should know what rates are being charged by each taxicab
operator, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this
ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public
peace, health and safety, the same shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage.
