AN ORDINANCE CM]ATING SEV_-'�Y POSITIONS
AS SANITARIANS AND FIVE 1'OSITI ONS OF
ASSISTANT SANITARIANS OF THE HEALTH

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUT CIL OF TILE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCh, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. There are hereby created
seven (7) positions of Sanitarian and five (5)
positions of Assistant Sanitarian in the Health
Department of the City of Little Rock, At no time
shall there be a corbined total of more than seven
(7) Sanitarians and Assistant Sanitarians employed
by the City of Little Rock.
SECTION 2. These Sanitarians and Assistant
Sanitarians shall conduct sanitary inspections of
all restaurants, cafes and other eating establish-
ments, soda fountains, boarding houses, rooming
houses, streets, alleys, and all premises_ in the City
of Little Rock, and shall immediately take corrective
action upon any violation found of the health and
sanitary ordinances of the City of Little Rock and
shall perform such other duties as the Health Officer
of the City of Little Rock may direct.
SECTION 3. Sanitarians shall be paid the
sum of 1.200 per month when they enter upon such duties,
and after a period of six (6) months of performing such
duties they shall be paid the sum of 6205 per month
and after a period of eighteen (18) months of per-
forming such duties they shall be paid the sum of
6215 per month, and after a period of thirty (30)
months of performing such duties they shall be paid the
sum of 6225 per month. Assistant Sanitarians shall be paid
the stm of $175 per month when they enter upon such
duties, and after a period of six (6) months of
performing such duties they shall be paid the sum
of $180 per month., and after a period of eighteen
(18) months of performing such auties they shall be
paid the sum of $190 per month, and after a period
of thirty (30) months of performing; such duties they
shall be paid the sum of T)200 per month.
SECTION 4. The Civil Service Commission
of the City of Little Rock shall establish qualifications
for such positions, conduct such examinations as may
be necessary and certify the applicants for these
positions according: to prevailing rules, ordinances,
regulations, and laws.
SECTION 5. The position of Food Inspector
is hereby abolished and the person occupying the
position of Food Inspector shall hereafter be known
as a Sanitarian and shall be paid according to his
present rate of pay. The position of Junior Food
Inspector is hereby abolished ana the person occupying
the position of Junior Food Inspector shall hereafter
be known as an Assistant Sanitarian and shall be paid
according to his present rate of pay.
SECTION 6. All ordinances and parts of
ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed,
and unless the provisions of this ordinance are put
into effect immediately the public peace, health and
safety will be injuriously affected; therefore an
emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance
shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage and approval.
