V,HEREAS, Due to the present high cost of operation and
expenses,the Little Rock School District is in
need of financial assistance to continue oper-
ations, and,
uhEREAS, It is to the best interests of all citizens of
the City of Little Rock that the public schools
be operat -)d in an efficient manner, and
G"tHER`"AS, The Board of Water Work Commissioners of the
Little Rock P:'Iunicipal Water .forks, have by re-
solution granted the Cit -T of Little Rock the sum
of Fifteen Thousand Dollars (x'',15,000.00) toward
a contribution to the School District,
NOVI TH1i,REFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY 1".Il] CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That in consideration of the above facts, and
under the authorit�,r conferred by the State Legislature by Act
229 of the Acts of 19313 there is hereby appropriated from the
General Fund of the City I'reasury the sum of Fifteen Thousand
Dollars (,x;15,000.00) to be paid to the Little Rock School Dis-
trict, and the proper city officials are hereby authorized and
directed to issue and execute the proper instruments to accom-
plish this purpose.
SECTION 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed. Unless the provisions of this
ordinance are put into effect immediately the public peace, health,
and safety of the citizens of the city of Little Rock will be
adversely affected, therefore., an emergency is hereby declared
to exist, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval.
