HomeMy WebLinkAbout7470i , ti ORDINANCE N0. 7470 AN ORDINANCE FIXING AND ESTABLISHING AN ANNUAL PRIVILEGE LICENSE TAX FOR ALL PERSONS, FIRMS, OR CORPORATIONS PRO- DUCING ELECTRICITY WITHIN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, DECLAR- ING SUCH TO BE A PRI�IILEGE, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKAN- SAS: SECTION 1. The manufacturing and /or producing or distributing of electrical current and electrical power within the City of Little Rock is hereby declared to be a privilege, and any person, firm, or corporation engaged in such business shall pay to the City of Little Rock each year, beginning with the first day of January, 1948, the total of (A), (B), as follows: (A). The sum of $40,000.00 annually, payable quarterly in advance. (B). Two per cent (2 %) of the proceeding calendar year's gross electric revenue (excluding industrial and municipal revenues), as paid to such persons, firms, or corporations by customers thereof, residing within the corporate limits of the City of Little Rock. Pay- ments shall be made by such person, firm, or corporation to the City of Little Rock in equal quarterly installments. Industrial revenues shall be those revenues as are defined as such by the Arkansas Public Service Commission. Municipal revenues shall be all those revenues as are covered in Section 2 of this ordinance. Payment of the tax imposed upon such person, firm, or corporat- ion shall constitute and be considered as complete payment, and dis- charge of all license fees, charges, impositions, or taxes (other than automobile license fees, special millage taxes, general ad val- orem taxes, and any amount due the City of Little Rock from any such companies under any existing contract or franchise). SECTION 2. Electricity furnished the City of Little Rock by any such person, firm, or corporation shall be paid for by the city in accordance with the applicable rate schedules of such person, firm, or corporation now on file and /or as they may in the future be approved by the Arkansas Public Service Com_ission. SECTION 3. Nothing herein contained shall be construed as giv- ing the power company any rights or privileges in addition to those A ,: -2- already enjoyed or owned by said Company to maintain and operate an electrical distribution system within said city. This ordinance from shall remain in effect for a term of five (5) years /fxx the 1st day of January, 1948. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in con- flict herewith are hereby repealed, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after itspassage and approval.
