AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE SIZE OF VEHICLES AND THE
LOADS THEREON TRAVELING ON THE STREETS OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK; PROVIDING FOR A PERMIT THEREFOR; PROVID-
ING FOR A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF, AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm,
or corporation to operate any vehicle or the load thereon in
excess of seven and one half feet in width upon the streets
of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, without first obtain-
ing a permit from the Chief of Police.
SECTION 2. Upon receipt of an application fcr the per-
mit as provided in Section 1 hereof, the Chief of Police or
his duly authorized agent will inspect said vehicle to insure
that the load is securely fastened on said vehicle and that
the proper warning signals are provided; that where necessary
the Police Department will escort said vehicle through the
City.
SECTION 3. No permit will be issued on any vehicle
where such vehicle or the load thereon is in excess of twenty
(20) feet in width.
SECTION 4. Any person, firm, or corporation violating
the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of
a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof will be fined in
an amount not less than $5.00 nor more than $50.00.
SECTION_ 5. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Unless the provisions
of this ordinance are put into effect immediately, the public
peace, health and safety of the citizens of the City of Little
Rock will be adversely affected, therefore, an emergency is
hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full
force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
