HomeMy WebLinkAbout7800i w ORDINANCE N0. 7800 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE RATE OF TAXATION OF PROPERTY FOR CITY PURPOSES FOR THE YEAR 1948 FQR VARIOUS FUNDS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK; DECLARING AY., EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. That the rate of taxation on real and personal property in the City of Little Rock for certain City purposes for the year 1949, be and the same is hereby fixed and established and levied as follows: For General purposes in order to carry on the affairs of the City Government uXd.er Section 4, Article 12, of the Constitution of 1874, there is hereby levied a tax of Five (5) mills. For the purpose of paying Bonds and Interest of the City of Little Rock as may be required in the Funding Bond issue of May lst, 1925, and refunding issue of November 1st2 1935, and refunding issue of November lst, 1939, a tax of three (3) mills; and Ordinance No. 3789 is hereby amended only insofar as to apply to levy for the year 1948. For the purpose of paying Bonds and Interest of the City of Little Rock as may be required in the Airport, Fire Equipment and Hospital Annex Bond Issue of November lst, 1929, a tax of Eighty Hundreths (.80) of a mill. For the purpose of paying Bonds and Interest of the City of Little Rock as may be required in the Municipal Auditorium Bond issue of February lst, 1937, and Municipal Auditorium 2% Refunding Bond issue of August 1, 1945, a tax of One and Sixty Hundreths (1.60) milli and Ordinance No. 5509 and Ordinance No. 6813 are hereby amended only insofar as to apply to levy for the year 1949. For the purpose of paying Bonds and Interest of the City of Little Rock as may be required in the 11% Airport Refunding Bond issue of March 1, 1945, a tax of One and Ten Hundreths (1.10) mills; and Ordinance No. 6762 is hereby amended only insofar as to apply to levy for the year 1948. For the purpose of paying Bonds and Interest of the City of Little Rock as may be required in the Fair Park Improvement Bond Issue of October lat. 1940, a tax of Ten Hundreths (.10) of a mill. For the purpose of paying Firemen's Pensions, in accord- ance with the provisions of Amendment No. 31 to the Constitution of the State of Arkansas, adopted November 5, 1940, and Act 14 of the Acts of the General Assembly of the State of Arkansas for the year 1941 and the acts amendatory thereto, a tax of Sixty Hundreths (.60) of a mill. For the purpose of paying Policemen's Pensions, in accord- ance with the provisions of Amendment No. 31 to the Constitution of the State of Arkansas, adopted November. 5, 1940, and Act 16 of the Acts of the General Assembly of the State of Arkansas, for the year 1941 and the acts w + ► r amendatory thereto, a tax of One (1) mill. For the purpose of maintaining the City Library, in accordance with the provisions of an amendment to the Constitution of the State of Arkansas, adopted November 5, 1940, a tax of One (1) mill. SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a certified copy of this ordinance to the County Clerk of Pulaski County to the end that the taxes herein recited may be extended on the tax books of Pulaski County and collected with the other taxes for the year 1948. SECTION 3. Action under the terms of this ordinance is immediately necessary if the public health program, policy and protection be not seriously curtailed, and such curtailment would result in endangering the health, lives and property of the citizens of Little Rock, and this ordinance being necessary for the public peace, health and safety of the citizens of Little Rock, therefore an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the date of its passage.
