AN ORDINANCE GRANTING PERMISSION TO THE ARKANSAS WAR MEMORIAL
STADIUM COMMISSION TO CONSTRUCT A STREET FROM WEST MARKHAM
STREET TO THE NORTH END OF THE STADIUM, TO WIDEN MONROE STREET,
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Permission is hereby granted to the Arkansas Memorial
5tadimm Commission to construct a street from West Markham Street to the north
end of the Stadium, not to interfere with the ball field at the Fair Park
Playground.
SECTION 2. The proposed street will be closed except during the
time events are being conducted at the Stadium.
SECTION 3. The area on either side of the proposed street will be
leveled and graded to permit the continuation of ball playing on the Fair Park
Playground ball field.
SECTION /+. Permission is also hereby granted to the Stadium
Commission to widen the park road known as the continuation of Monroe Street
ten (10 ) feet on the west side from West Markham Street to the "Y" which
permits traffic to go south to Travelers Field and west to the amusement area.
SECTION 5. ftrves at the entrance of the widened street will be
fla.ired to permit a smoother flow of traffic on West Markham Street.
SECTION 6. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are repealed. Unless the provisions of this ordinance are put into
effect immediately, the public peace, health, and safety of the citizens of
the City of Little Rock will be adversely affected, therefore an emergency is
hereby declared to exist, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval .
