AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE N0,, 68353 CREATING A TYPHUS CONTROL DIVISION: CREATING THE POSITIONS THEREIN: FIXING CERTAIN SALARIES: OUTLINING THE PROCEDURE FOR THE COLLECTION AND DISBURSEMENT OF FUNDS: AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1, That Ordinance No. 6835 passed October 22, 1945, is hereby repealed in its entirety. All the funds in the Typhus Control Fund will be turned over to the City Collector for credit to the City General Fund. SECTION 2. There is hereby created a Typhus Control Division within the City Health Department. The purposes of said division is to carry out a program to prevent the spread of typhus in cooperation with the United States Public Health Service. SECTION 3. The position of Typhus Control Director is hereby created* The duties of said position shall be to supervise the typhus control program and to make inspections for the need of typhus control. He shall perform such other t--- duties as the City Health Officer may require. In addition to the director, there are hereby created the following permanent positions: One Typhus Inspector One Junior Clerk One Labor Foreman Four Laborers SECTION 4. The persons filling these positions shall be selected by the Civil Service Commission in the manner provided by law and shall receive the following salary: Director - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - $225.00 -- $250.00 per month Director, Travel Expense - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - $60.00 per month Typhus Inspector - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - $175.00 -- $200.00 per month Junior Clerk; - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - $108.34 per month Labor Foreman - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - $1.10 - - $1.25 per hour Laborers - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - x¢1.00 - -$1.06 per hour The director and inspector shall start at the lower salary and the salary increased in three equal steps after each six months' service. SECTION 5. All fees and charges shall be made to the City Collector and all future disbursements will be made in the manner now provided by law. - 2 - SECTION 6. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Unless the provisions of this ordinance are put into effect immediately, the peace, health and safety of the citizens of Little Rock will be adversely affected; therefore an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
