HomeMy WebLinkAbout13616I RESOLUTION NO. 13,616 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE EXECUTION OF A FIVE (5)- 4 YEAR EXTENSION OF THE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN 5 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, AND THE CITY OF 6 SHERWOOD, ARKANSAS, TO ALLOW METROPOLITAN 7 EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES ( "MEMS ") TO CONTINUE TO 8 PROVIDE EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES AND 9 NON - EMERGENCY ROUTINE TRANSPORTS IN THE CITY OF 10 SHERWOOD, ARKANSAS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 PA 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 WHEREAS, on December 6, 2006, the City of Little Rock and the City of Sherwood have, by their respective Mayors, previously executed an Interlocal Agreement awarding an exclusive franchise to Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services to provide emergency service and non - emergency routine transport ambulance service to the citizens of the City of Sherwood, Arkansas; and, WHEREAS, this Interlocal Agreement has furthered the governmental objective of both entities to provide high quality Advanced Life Support (ALS) and routine transport ambulance service to citizens; and, WHEREAS, the current five (5) -year Interlocal Agreement expired on December 6, 2011, but has been extended on a month -to -month basis since that date, as provided for in said Interlocal Agreement, and the City of Little Rock and the City of Sherwood desire to extend such Interlocal Agreement for an exclusive franchise for a period of five (5) years to December 6, 2016; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: Section 1. In order for the Little Rock Ambulance Authority, d /b /a Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services ( "MEMS ") to continue the delivery of all ambulance services pursuant to an exclusive franchise in the City of Sherwood, Arkansas, the Board hereby authorizes the execution of a five -(5) year extension of the Interlocal Agreement with the City of Sherwood, Arkansas, effective December 18, 2012. Upon the expiration of the five (5) -year term, the Board authorizes a month -to -month extension until a formal extension is approved by both cities. Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or word of this ordinance is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the ordinance which shall remain in full force and [Pagel of 2l 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the ordinance. Section 4. Repealer. All ordinances and resolutions, and parts thereof, which are in conflict with any provision of this ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
