AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THOSE PORTIONS OF ORDINANCES NO.
7444 and NO. 7469 WHICH ESTABLISHED AN ANNUAL PRIVILEGE
LICENSE TAX FOR BAKERIES AND PIE AND /OR DOUGHNUT SHOPS
WITHIN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS; CLASSIFYINfi
BAKERIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHING AN ANNUAL PRIV
ILEGE LICENSE TAX THEREON; PROVIDING FOR THE AMOUNT THEREOF
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the Finance Committee of the City Council of the City
of Little Rock, Arkansas and the Finance Committee of the
Arkansas Bakerst Association, Inc., after study and resear
have determined that the privilege license taxes imposed
upon bakeries in the City of Little Rock, Arkansas are in-
equitable and inadequate, and
WHEREAS, in the baking industry wholesale bakeries are classified
in accordance to the number of truck routes operated; and
the classification of wholesale bakeries based on such
distinction is a reasonable classification based upon well
established practices in the baking industry, which practices
recognize essential differences between s-dch classification j;
NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE'ROCK,
ANSAS:
SECTION 1. Paragraph A, Section 1
amended, said amendment to become
deleting therefrom the following:
of Ordinance No. 7444 is hereby
effective January 1, 1951, by
Bakeries, Wholesale ............................... $375.00
Bakeries, Retail ... ............................... 50.00
Bakeries, Retail Branch, where no baking is done... 25.00
and Section 2 of Ordinance No. 7469 is hereby amended, said amend-
ment to become effective January 1, 1951s by deleting therefrom
the following:
Pie Shops and /or Doughnut Shops, Wholesale and /or Retail.
Such Pie Shops and or Doughnut Shops shall be defined as
places which confine their commercial enterpttises to the
baking or manufacture of pies and /or doughnuts and the
exclusive sale of same at wholesale or retail....... .25.00
and by substituting for the deleted portions of said ordinances th4
following:
Bakeries, Wholesale or Wholesale and Retail.
Per truck routes operated from a bakery
plant located in the City of Little Rock,
Arkansas;
Up to 5 routes inclusive ............... $100.00
From 6 to 15 routes inclusive .......... S200.00
More than 15 routes .................... $375.00
Bakeries'. Retail only, where no truck routes oper-
ated .................................... :; 50.00
Bakeries, Retail Branch, where no baking done and
no truck routes operated ................ 25.00
Bakeries, Pie Shops and /or Doughnut Shops. Such Pie
Shops and /or Doughnut Shops shall be defined
as places which confine their commercial
enterprises to the baking or manufacture
of pies and /or doughnuts and the exclusive
sale of same.
Wholesale or Wholesale and Retail.
Per truck routes operated from a bakery
or manufacturing plant in the City of
Little Rock, Arkansas:
Up to 5 routes inclusive $100.
From 6 routes to 15 routes inclusive..... $200.
More than 1:5 routes ..................... $375.
Retail only, where no truck routes oper-
ated ..................................... $ 50.0
Retail Branch, where no baking or manu-
facture done and no truck routes oper-
ated ..................................... $ 25.
SECTION Z. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict here
with are hereby repealed.
