HomeMy WebLinkAbout8659ORDINANCE NO. 8659 AN ORDINANCE PLACING THE CITY HEALTH OFFICER UNDER CIVIL SERVICE, PROVIDING FOR HIS SELEC- TION, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. That the City Health Officer be and hereby placed under civil Service in aec ®rdanes 'w3wth.. the provisions of Act 386 of the 1951 Acts of the Arkansas Legislature. SECTION 2. That the said office of City Health Officer on becoming vacant shall be filled in such manner as may be provided by the Civil Service Commission in accordance with the methods used in the selection of all other Civil Service employees. SECTION 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. That at the present time it is difficult to secure and j retain the services of competent employees as City Health Officers due to the fact that competent people desire to be under Civil Service. That without such Health Officers the health of the community would be greatly endangered and that an emergency therefore exists, and for these reasons this ordinance shall take full force and effect immediately from and after its passage and approval.
