HomeMy WebLinkAbout8667ORDINANCE NO. 6667 AN ORD =NANCE CHANGING THE IdaiBERSE IP OF THE LITTLE ROCK PARKS AND RECREATION C0114ISSION, AAIEIIDING ORDINANCE NO. 6975, AIM FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAIIIED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. Section 2 of Ordinance No. 6975 be amended to read as follows: "Section 2. The Parks and Recreation Commission herein before authorized shall consist of six (6) members, who shall be appointed by the 1,1a.yor, subject to confirmation by the City Council; Two members shall be Aldermen representing the City Council; four members shall be appointed from the citizens at large. They shall serve without compensation. Each member shall be a qualified elector of the City of Little Rock at the time of his appointment, and during his incumbency; and the teem of office shall be six (6) years and /or until his success- or shall bo appointed and qualified; provided, however, and at the first meeting of the Commission after the appointment of its members under the provisions of this ordinance, such members shall classify themselves by lot that one (1) of them shall go out of office at the end of one (1) year, one (1) member shall go out of office at the end of two (2) years, one (1) membei- shall -`0 out of office at the end of three (3) years., one (lj member shall go out of office at the end of four (4) years, and one member shall •o out of office at the end of five (5) years, and one member shall ;7o out of office at the end of six (6) years, from she date of their appointment. Should a vacancy occur in the Comrission for any reason, such vacancy shall be filled for such unexpired term by an appointment by the Mayor, subject to confirmation b�- ,� the City Council. If the Aldermen members cease to be members of the City.Council,they are automatically retired from the Parks and Recreation Commission. The resulting unexpired term or terms should be filled by another member or members of the City Council upon appointment b y the i':ayor and confirmation by the Council. Any member of the Com^lission may be removed by the All City Council for c SECTION 2 cause." ordinances and ports of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed, and this ordinance shall be in'f and effect from and after its 1 force passage and approval.
