AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 401 OF CHAP'T'ER 4 AND SECTION 1009 OF CHAPTER
10 OF CRDINANTCE NO. 7888, KNOWN AS TIM LITTLE ROCK BUILDING CODE, BY DEE'IN --
ING PUBLIC PARKING DECK AND BY PROVIDING LOCALITIES MIME THEY IIAY BE PLACED,
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY CF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1, That Section 401 of Chapter 4 of Ordinance No. 7888 be amended
by adding thereto before the definition of parking shed the definition of public
parking deck, shall be worded as follows:
PUBLIC PARKING DECK. A special structure limited in use only to the temporary
parking of motor vehicles.
SECTION 2. That Section 1009 of Chapter 10 of Ordinance No. 7888 is hereby
amended by adding thereto the following:
Sub — Section C of Section 1009. Public Parking Decks as defined in Section
401 may be constructed of Type I Fireproofs Type II Fire Resistive, or Type IV Non —
Combustible construction without exterior walls except that when such structures
are located within (6) feet of common property lines they shall be provided with an
enclosure iall of not less than two (2) hours fire resistance without openings
therein. This type structure shall be limited to a height of two (2) stories and an
area limitation of 250000 square feet Im r floorp with roof parking permitted. Each
floor of such structure shall have a continuous wheel guard not less than twelve (12)
inches in height above the floor, with a clear passage of three (3) feet between the
wheel guard and edge of structure. There shall be placed in addition to the wheel
guard a continuous protective railing not less than three (3) feet, six (6) inches
above the floor around the entire outside perimeter of the structure. Public Parking
Decks conforming to the above construction may be located in both Fire Zones 1 and 2.
SECTION 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage and approval.
