ORDINANCE NO. 8789
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 3 AND 4 OF ORDINANCE NO.
8656, ESTABLISHING THE TIME BETWEEN VARIOUS STEPS FOR
PROMOTION OR ADVANCEMENT IN RATE OF COMPENSATION, AND
FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Section 3 of Ordinance No. 8656 is hereby amended
to read as follows:
'The salaries of new employees shall begin at their classi-
fication, range, and step No. 1, and after six months continuous
service, they shall advance to step No. 2; after another six months
continuous service they shall advance to step No. 3; and after
another 12 months continuous service they shall advance to step No.
4, which is the maximum salary."
SECTION 2. Section 4 of Ordinance No. 8656 is hereby amended
by deleting from the last sentence thereof the following words: "as
set forth above in Section 3," and adding thereto in their place the
following words: "provided that advancements in steps shall require
only six months service between Step 1 and Step 2, six months service
bot *een' 8tep 2 and Step 3,-12 months service between Step 3 and Ste
4," so that-the last sentence shall read: "Thereafter, advancements
in salaries shall be governed by classification, range and steps,
provided that advancements in steps shall require only six months
between Step 1 and Step 2, six months service between Step 2 and
Step 3, and 12 months service between Step 3 and Step 4."
SECTION 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed, and this ordinance shall be
in full force and effect from December 1, 1951.
