HomeMy WebLinkAbout8829ORDINANCE NO. 8829 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 8656, ESTABLISHING THE REGULAR WORKING HOURS OF MEMBERS OF THE POLICE DEPART- MENT it FORTY (40) HOURS PER WEEK, PROVIDING FOR AN ADDITIONAL EIGHT (8) HOURS WORK PER WEEK, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. That the time and salary schedule - now set up for the Police Department of the City of Little Rock be and the same is hereby declared to be on a weekly basis consisting of forty (40) regular working hours time in each calendar week. That every member of the said Police Department, in addition to the forty (40) hours regular working time, if required to work additional time up to shall be called to duty by the Chief of the Department with the approval.; eight (8) hours per week, /shall be paid for such time at the regular of the *apor Pkid, rate of pay under the salary schedule applying to said member. Thai any member of the Police Department called to extra duty while off duty, who works less than three hours, shall be paid for three hours working time. SECTION 2. That each member of the Police Department shall be given not less than one day off duty each week. That each member of the Police Department shall be subject, however, to emergency call during his off daV but when calledyshall be paid at the rate of time and one -half for any work performed during such off days, provided he has worked forty -eight (48) hours in the same week. SECTION 3. That the regular working day for each member of the Police Department shall consist of eight (8) hours and in computing the hours per week worked by members of the Department, i said computation shall be upon the basis of an eight -hour shift, and any time worked in excess of eight (8) hours in any one. any member of the Police Department shall be applied toward said weekly computation of forty -eight (48) hours. SECTION 4. That holidays and other special events falling j within his regular tours of duty shall be paid for only upon the basis hereinbefore enumerated, and in no event shall time and one- half be paid, except as hereinbefore set forth. .r.A -2- SECTION 5. That any part of Ordinance No. 8656 or any other ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed, and this ordinance being for the irmnediate pro- tection of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
