AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE DISTRIBUTION AND SALE OF NATURAL GAS
TO, DOMESTIC AND CW1ERCIAL CONSUMMS ` WITHIN THE CITY OF LITTLE
ROCK.. AWWSAS TO BE A PRIMEDE� FIXING THE LICENSE THEREFOR;
AMENDING ALL CONFLICTING .ORDINANCES OR PARTS THEREOF, AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE MOCK,,
SECTION 1. The business of distribution and sale of natural gas to
domestic and /or commercial. consumers Within the City of Little Roek, Arkansas,
is declared to be a privilege and all persons, firms and/or corporations so
engaged shall pay for said privilege the annual license tax set forth and fixed
in Section 2 hereof.
SECTION 2. There is hereby levied as an annual license tax for said
privilege the sum of $75,000.00, Which shall be due and payable in equal quarterly
installments an the first days of January, April, July and October of each of
the years 1953, 19546 1955, 1956 and 1957. The said tax shall be in lieu of all
other licenses. taxes or impositions (other than the usual general, or special
a va ' OR
ad' tixewwhich might be imposed by the City of Little Rock under
authority conferred by law.
SECTION 3. Any person, firm and /or corporation engaging in the business
hereinabbve specified Without paying the quarterly installments of said tax Within
thirty (30) days after Written notice by the City Collector that they are
respectively due shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction
thereof shall be fined in any sum not less than $250.00 nor more than $500.00;
and each day that such default continues shall constitute a separate offense.
SECTION 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith,
isaluding Ordinances Numbers 5751, 7159 and 7451, are hereby .amended to omfom
to the provisions of this ordinance.
SECTION 5. In view of the fact that the City is facing a curtailment in
p*1100., fire and health protection and in other municipal services, the situatim
demands an immediate increase in tax revenues and an emergency is hereby declared
to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage and approval.
