ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A14D DIRECTING THE SUBMISSION
TO TIE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS, OF THE QUESTION OF THE ANNEXATION TO THE CITY
OF LITTLE ROCK OF LANDS CONTIGUOUS TO SAID CITY AND
LOCATED IN PULASKI COUNTY, ARKANSAS, SAID LANDS BEING
AN AREA OF LAND ADJOINING THE WEST AND SOUTH BOUNDARIES
OF' THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, LYING IN SECTIONS 1j. 12 AND
13 IN TOWNSHIP 1 NORTH, RANGE 13 WEST, AND SECTIONS 25
AND 36 IN TOWNSHIP 2 NORTH, RANGE 13 WEST, AND SECTIONS
6, 7 AND 18 IN TOWNSHIP 1 NORTH, RANGE 12 WEST, CONTAIN-
ING 1_.6 SQUARE MILES MORE OR LESS; DIRECTING CITY
OFFICIALS TO TAKE ANY OTHER NECESSARY STEPS TO ACCOM-
PLISH SAID ANNEXATION, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF 12HE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARK&TSAS:
SECTION 1. That certain real property hereinafter
described and which is located in Pulaski County, Arkansas, and
is contiguous to the West and South boundaries of the City of
Little Rock, and which lies in Sections 1, 12 and 13 in Township
One (1) North, Range Thirteen (13) West, and Sections 25 and 36
in Township Two (2) North, Range Thirteen (13) West, and Sections
6, 7 and 18 in Township One (1) North, Range Twelve (12) West, has
been improved by the erection and occupancy of various homes,
residences and other structures, and by the development of a city
park known as Boyle Park, which is owned by the City of Little Rock,
and said territory should be annexed to the present City of Little
Rock for the best interests of said territory and the best interests
of Little Rock and so that it may be properly protected from the
standpoint of peace, health, fire and safety hazards.
That said territory is described more particularly
as follows:
Beginning at a point on the west line of Section 25, T. 2
N., R. 13 W., which point is 175 feet north of the north right -of-
way line of State Highway No. 10; thence south along said west
line to the N.W. corner of Section 36, T.2 N., R. 13 W.; thence
along the west line of said Section 36 to the N.W. corner of Sec-
tion 1, T. 1 N., R. 13 W.; thence south along the west line of said
Section 1 to the N.W. corner of Section 12, T. 1 N., R. 13 W.;
thence south along the west line of said Section 12 to the N.W.
corner of Section 13, T.1 N., R. 13 W.; thence south along the
west line of said Section 13 to the S.W. corner of said Section

13; thence east along the south line of said Section 13 to the
S.E. corner of said Section 13, said point also being the S.W.
corner of Section 18, T. 1 N., R. 12 W.; thence east along the
south line of said Section 18 to the S.E. corner of said Section
18; thence north along the east line of said Section 18 to its
intersection with the center line of W. 34th Street, said inter-
section being a point on the south line of the present city
limits; thence along the south and west boundaries of the present
city limits to the point of beginning, containing 4.6 square
miles, more or less.
SECTION 2. That the question of the annexation of
the above - described property shall be submitted to the qualified
electors of the City of Little Rock at the next general election,
which will be held November 4, 1952.
SECTION 3. That in the event that a majority of the
qualified electors at the election mentioned in Section 2 of this
ordinance approve of said annexation to the City of Little Rock
of the territory herein Idescribed in Section 1 of this ordinance,
the Mayor, City Clerk, City Attorney and other city officials are
hereby instructed and directed to take any and all appropriate
steps necessary and desirable to complete the annexation of said
lands and territory, or any part thereof, to the City of Little
Rock, in conformity with the provisions of Arkansas law.
SECTION 4. That the establishment of regular
boundaries to the City of Little stock, Arkansas, end the bring-
ing into the City of Little Rock of the above - described improved
territory now lying beyond the West and South boundaries of the
city limits is hereby found to be vital to the public peace,
health and safety and an emergency is hereby declared to exist,
and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and approval.
