AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE HEALTH
OF THE PUBLIC BY REQUIRING PARTIES ENGAGED IN THE HANDLING
OF FOOD IN RESTAURANTS, BEVERAGE PLANTS, MILK PLANTS, ETC.,
TO HAVE HEALTH CERTIFICATES; v.ME-NDING SECTION 2 OF ORDI-
NANCE N0. 2488 AS AMENDED BY SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NO.
5632; PROVIDING A FEE IN THE SUM OF ONE DOLLAR ($1.00)
SHALL BE COLLLCTED FOR A CERTIFICATE SHOWING SAID PERSONS
TO BE FREE FROM ANY COMMUNICABLE DISEASE THAT 14AY BE
DANGEROUS TO THE PUBLIC, AND REQUIRING THAT SUCH CERTIFI-
CATE BE OBTAINED SEMI - ANNUALLY, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY" OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That Section 2 of Ordinance No. 2488 as
amended by Section 1 of Ordinance No. 5632 is hereby amended by
striking out in its entirety Section 2 of said ordinance as amended
by Section 1 of Ordinance No. 5632 and inserting in lieu thereof the
following:
"Section 2. All employees engaged in any business mentioned
above must be examined and certified as free from any contagious,
infectious or communicable disease. Each person engaged in any
capacity in a business above mentioned must be vaccinated against
typhoid fever and smallpox. The vaccination required by this para-
graph shall be done free of charge by officers of the City Health
Department. The medical examination herein required shall be done
by the officers of the City Health Department, and a certificate
shall be furnished by the City Health Department showing that such
person is free from any and all contagious, infectious or communi-
cable diseases. The examinations with reference to contagious,
infectious or communicable diseases shall be made semi- annually and
the Health Department shall collect the sum of One Dollar ($1.00)
for each semi- annual inspection before a certificate is issued. All
employees shall retain and keep in their possession while on duty
their certificate so that such certificate may be checked by any duly
constituted representative of the City of Little Rock. No person,
firm or corporation shall have in his employment any person who does
not have such c ertificate.
"Any person, firm or corporation violating any provisions
of this Section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon
conviction in the Little Rock Municipal Court shall be fined in

any sum not less than Ten Dollars ($10.00) nor more than Fifty
Dollars ($50-00)."
SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed, and whereas this
ordinance is necessary for the protection of the health of
the citizens of Little Pock, an emergency is hereby declared
to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage and approval.
