ORDINANCE NO. 9061
AN ORDINANCE ORDERING THE REMOVAL AND RAZING OF BUILDINGS,
HOUSES AND OTHER STRUCTURES IN THE CITY OF LIT'T'LE ROCK WHICH
ARE FIRE HAZARDS AND WHICH ARE UNSAFE FROM A SANITARY STAND-
POINT; DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO TAKE SUCH ACTION AS
MAY BE NECESSARY TO COMPEL THE REMOVAL AND RAZING OF SAID
BUILDINGS, HOUSES AND OTHER STRUCTURES IN ORDER TO ACCOMPLISH
THE RESULTS DESIRED BY THIS ORDINANCE; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY,
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHErREAS, the building and structures located at 1616 1jest
7th Street, described as the Past 40 feet of the West 113.3 feet of
Lot 6, Block 15, FAUST ADDITION to the City of Little Rock; the
building and structures located at 1719 West 16th Street, described
as Lot 1, Block 30, CENTENITIIAL ADDITION to the City of L-1-the Rock;
the building and structures located at 722 West 10th Street,
described as the South 30 feet of the West 65 feet of Lots 5 and 6,
Block 174, ORIGINAL CITY OF LITTLE ROCK; and the building and
structures located at 1710 Lincoln Avenue, described as the East 40
feet of Block 15, STTLL14AN AND BUCHANAN ADDITION to the City of
Little Rock, have become run -down, delapidated, unsafe, unsightly,
dangerous, obnoxious and detrimental to the public welfare of the
citizens of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, and
?WHEREAS, the condition of such property constitutes a
serious fire hazard and also constitutes a serious health hazard
to the citizens of the City of Little Rocx, Arkansas, and unless
immediate action is taken to remedy this situation by removing and
razing said buildings there is a great likelihood that the surround-
ing property may be destroyed by fire originating in such unsafe and
hazardous structures and as such structures are a breeding place for
rats, rodents and other disease germ carriers, such buildings consti-
tute a serious hazard to the health of the citizens of Little Rock,
Arkansas, and they should be removed and razed for the purpose of
eliminating such hazard;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That the owners of the following described
property be and they are hereby ordered to remove or raze the build-
ings upon said property within thirty (30) days from the effective
date of this ordinance.

and owned by Florine Wilson, constitutes a hazard with relation to
the above - described situation.
SECTION 3. That the building and structures at 1719
West 16th Street, described as Lot 1, Block 30, CENTENNIAL ADDITION

to the Pity of Little Rock, and owned by Mrs Noel Daniell, consti-
tutes a hazard with relation to the above- described situation.
SECTION 4. That the building and structures at 722 West
10th Street, described as the South 30 feet of the West 65 feet of
Lots 5 and 6, Block 174, ORIGINAL CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, and owned by
John A . Johnson, constitutes a hazard with relation to the above -
described situation.
SECTION 5. That the building and structures at 1710
Lincoln Avenue, described as the East 40 feet of Block 15, STIILLMAN
AND BUCHANAN ADDITION to the City of Little Rock, and owned by M. H.
bat, constitutes a hazard with. relation to the above - described
situation.
SECTION 6. The City Attorney is hereby directed to take
such action and to institute such legal proceedings against such
persons as it may be necessary to do for the purpose of and in order
to enforce the provisions of this ordinance and to remedy the
dangerous and unsightly conditions, the health conditions and the
fire hazards which said properties constitute.
SECTION 7. All persons, firms or corporations violating
the provisions of this ordinance shall upon conviction thereof be
fined in any sum not less than Twenty -Five Dollars ($25.00) nor
more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).
SECTION 8. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed, and unless the provisions
of this ordinance are put into effect immediately, the public peace,
health and safety of the people of Little Rock, Arkansas, will be
adversely affected; therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to
exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and approval.
