AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING PIERCE STREET (NOW
KNOWN AS GEYER STREET) BEING ABUTTED ON THE EAST SIDE BY
LOTS 1 and 209 BLOCK 2, NATIONAL PARK SUBDIVISION OF
BLOCK 1, WATKINS ADDITION TO THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
AND ON THE WEST SIDE BY THE WEST 922 FEET OF THE NORTH-
EAST QUARTER (NE 4) OF LOT 2 , BLOCK 2, WATKINS ADDITION
TO THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK.
WHEREAS, a Petition was duly filed with the City Council
of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, on the i3t�h day of
April, 1953, requesting the City Council to vacate and aban-
don Pierce Street (now known as Geyer Street), situated be-
tween Roosevelt Road and East 26th Street and being abutted
on its East side by Lots 1 and 20, Block 2, National Park
Subdivision of Block 1, Watkins Addition to the City of
Little Rock, and on the West side by the West 922 feet of
the Northeast Quarter (NE-1) of Lot 2, Block 2, Watkins Addi.
tion to the City of Little Rock, the street appearing on the
Plat of National Park Addition Plat of Subdivision of Block -
1, Watkins Addition, Little Rock, ,Arkansas now appearing of
record in Plat Book 1 at Sheet No. 142 in the Office of the
Recorder of Pulaski County, Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, after due notice as required by law, the Council
has, on the day and at the place mentioned in the notice,
heard all persons desiring to be heard an the question and
has ascertained that the street hereinbefore described has
heretofore been dedicated to the Public use as a street,
has not been actually used by the Public generally for a
period of at least five years subsequent to the filing of
the Plat and for a period of at least five years immediately
preceding the filing of the Petition and the date of the
passage of this Ordinance, that the sole owner of the property
abutting upon the street to be vacated has filed with the
Council his written consent to such abandonment, and that
the Public interest and welfare will not be adversely af-
fected by the abandonment of such street.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council
of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas:
Section 1. The City of Little Rock, Arkansas, hereby
releases, vacates and abandons all its rights, together with
the rights of the Public generally, in and to the street
designated as follows:
Pierce Street, now known as Geyer Street,
running North and South between East 26th Street
in the City of Little Rock, Arkansas . Lots 1 and
201 Block 29 National Park Subdivision of Block
1, Watkins Addition to the City of Little Rock,
abuttin said street on its East side, and the
West 922 feet of the Northeast Quarter (NE4) of
Lot 2, Block 2, Watkins Addition to the City of
Little Rock, abutting said street on its West
side, said National Park Addition Plat of Sub-
division of Block 1, Watkins Addition, Little
Rock, Arkansas, now appearing of record in Plat
Book 1 at Sheet No. 42 in the Office of the Re-
corder of Pulaski County, Arkansas.
Section 2. A copy of the Ordinance duly certified by
the City Clerk shall be f iled in the Off ice of the Recorder
of the County and recorded in the Deed Records of the County.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in
force from and after its passage.
