HomeMy WebLinkAbout9244r ORDINANCE NO.92hh AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING SMOKING IN OR ON A BID LOCATED IN ANY HOTEL, ROOMING HOUSE, APARTMENT HOUSE, MOTEL, TOURIST COURT OR KITCHENETTE IN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, OR SETTING FIRE TO ANY INFLAMMABLE MATERIAL THEREIN WHILE LIGHTING OR ATTEMPTING TO LIGHT TOBACCO FOR THE PURPOSE OF SMOKING IT IN ANY FORM WHATSOEVER, FIXING THE PENALTY TREREFOR, REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 7574 IN ITS ENTIRETY, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, while in or on a bed in any hotel, rooming house, apartment house, kitchenette, motel or tourist court located within the City of Little Rock, to smoke a lighted cigarette, cigar, pipe or tobacco in any other form. SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any person, while in a hotel room or in the roo� of a rooming house, apartment house, kitchenette, motel or tourist court, located in the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, to carelessly set fire to, burn or cause to be burned any bedding, furniture, curtains, draperies or any other household furnishings by means of any lighted cigarettes, cigars, pipes or other forms of burning tobacco, or by means of matches, lighters and the like, in lighting or attempting to light any cigarette, cigar, pipe or other form of smoking tobacco. SECTION 3. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined in any sum not less than Twenty -Five Dollars ($25.00) nor more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00). SECTION 4. That Ordinance No. 7574 is hereby repealed in its entirety. x SECTION 5. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed, and this ordinance shall.be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
