HomeMy WebLinkAbout9366ORDINANCE NO. 9366 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE RATE OF TAXATION OF PROPERTY FOR CITY PURPOSES FOR THE YEAR 1953 FOR VARIOUS FUNDS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. That the rate of taxation on real and personal property in the City of Little Rock for certain City purposes for the year 1953, be and the same is hereby fixed and established and levied as follows: For General purposes in order to carry on the affairs of the City Government under Section 41 Article 12, of the Constitution of 18 �4, there is hereby levied a tax of Five (5) mills. For the purpose of paying bonds and interest of the City of Little Rock for General Obligation Rights-of-Way Street Improvement Bonds, issue of February 1, 1953, a tax of two and eight- tenths (2.8) mills. For the purpose of paying bonds and interest of the City of Little Rock for Fire Apparatus and Fire Station Bonds, issue of February 11 1953, a tax of two (2) mills. For the purpose of paying PolicemenIs Pensions, in ac- cordance with the provisions of Amendment No. 31 to the Constitution of the State of Arkansas, a tax of One (1) mill. For the purpose of maintaining the City Library, in ac- cordance with the provisions of an amendment to the Constitution of the State of Arkansas, adopted November 5, 19409 a tax of One (1) mill. SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a certified copy of this ordinance to the County Clerk of Pulaski County to the end that the taxes herein recited may be extended on the taxbooks of Pulaski County and collected with the other taxes f or the year 1953. SECTION 3 • All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 4. Action under the terms of this ordinance is imme- diately necessary if the public health program, policy and protection be not seriously curtailed, and such curtailment would result in 2 endangering the health, lives and property of the citizens of Little Rock, and this ordinance being necessary for the public peace, health and safety of the citizens of Little Rock, therefore an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the date of its passage.
