ORDINANCE NO. 9385
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE RATE OF TAXATION OF PROPERTY
FOR CITY PURPOSES FOR THE YEAR 1953 FOR VARIOUS FUNDS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK; REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 9366,
PASSED OCTOBER 12, 1953; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That the rate of taxation on real and personal
property in the City of Little Rock for certain City purposes for the
year 1953 be and the same is hereby fixed and established and levied
as follows:
For General purposes in order to carry on the affairs of
the City Government under Section 4, Article 12, of the
Constitution of 18 �4, there is hereby levied a tax of
Five (5) mills.
For the purpose of paying bonds and interest of the City
of Little Rock for General Obligation Rights -of Way Str.eet
Improvement Bonds, issue of February 1, 1953, a tax of two
and five tenths (2.5) mills.
For the purpose of paying bonds and interest of the City
of Little Rock for Fire Apparatus and Fire Station Bonds,
issue of February 1, 1953, a tax of two (2) mills.
For the purpose of paying bonds and interest of the City
of Little Rock for bonds approved at the General Election
held November 3, 1953 for the purpose of acquiring a site
for an addition to the City Library, a tax of five tenths
(.5) of a mill.
For the purpose of paying Policemen's Pensions, in accord-
ance with the provisions of Amendment No. 31 to the Con-
stitution of the State of Arkansas, a tax of One (1) mill.
For the purpose of maintaining the City Library, in ac-
cordance with the provisions of Amendment 30 to the Con-
stitution of the State of Arkansas, a tax of One (1) mill.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a
certified copy of this ordinance to the County Clerk of Pulaski County
to the end that the taxes herein recited may be extended on the tax
books of Pulaski County and collected with the other taxes for the
year 1953•
SECTION 3 • Ordinance No. 9366 of the Ordinances of the City

of Little Rock, passed October 12, 1953, is hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. Action under the terms of this ordinance is immediate-
ly necessary if the public health program, policy and protection be
not seriously curtailed, and as such curtailment would result in en-
dangering the health, lives and property of the citizens of Little Rock,
and this ordinance being necessary for the public peace, health and
safety of the citizens of Little Rock, an emergency, therefore, is here-
by declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect and be in
force from and after the date of its passage.
