HomeMy WebLinkAbout9436ORDINANCE No. 9436 AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH THE TD(E THAT CERTAIN EMPLOYEES OF THE CITI SHALL BE.PAID, BASIS OF.SUCH PAY, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES., BE IT ORDAINED Bi THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSASs SECTION 1. That effective from and after January 1, 1954, the employees of the City who are now paid under the provisions of Ordinances Nos. 9006 and 9007, and those ordinances pertaining thereto, shall be paid on a two week pay period basis. On Friday, January 22, 1954, said employees shall receive proportionate pay compu acco�ce with Sectiofi-I a -rein; for that 'pe fin rom an uary s to January 15th and thereafter said employees shall be paid each two weeks for the preceding two weeks pay period. SECTION 2. The amount paid to each employee for said two weeks pay period shall be equal to one -half of the monthly salary as authorised by said Ordinances Nos. 9006 and 9007 and those ordinances pertaining thereto, provided, however, that this Section shall not apply to those employees having a combined annual salary from the City and the State of $6,000.00 or more and provided further that this section shall not apply to those employees hired by the Civil Service Commission as special, seasonal or temporary employees. SECTION 3. That, on or after July 1, 1954, if the City Council determines that saf`ieient revenue is not available to maintain adequate municipal services, this ordinance may be amended or revised as deemed necessary. SECTION 4. A11 ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed, and it being ascertained and found by the City Catmcil of the City of Little Rock that the employees of the City will benefit greatly by being paid at a time when they can take advantage of week -end sales of foidstuffs; that it is difficult to fix, within the Cityfs ability to pay, an equitable salary increase for each employee; that this method of pay will give each employee two additional paydays each year; that the same is necessary for the l.cOnomy and health of said employees; and that this ordinance being Aecessary for the public.peace, r,- Js�r] band ,safety of the citizens of toe City of Little Rock, can emergency is, hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after January 1, 1954.
