HomeMy WebLinkAbout9556F . 1 ORDINANCE NO. 9556 AN ORDINANCE VACATING CERTAIN STREETS AND ALLEYS IN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. WHEREAS, a petition was duly filed with the City Council of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, on g8ri1 26 1954, asking the City Council to vacate and abandon all the hereinafter described portions of the streets and alleys designated on the plat of Callaway Addition to the City of Little Rock, now appearing of record in Plat Book 1, page 95, and on the plat of Woodlawn Addition to the City of Little Rock, now appearing of record in Deed Book 75, page 615, in the office of the Circuit Clerk and ex officio Recorder of Pulaski County, Arkansas; and WHEREAS, after due notice as required by law, the Council has, at the time and place mentioned in the notice, heard all persons desiring to be heard on the question and has ascertained that the portions of streets and alleys hereinafter described have heretofore been dedicated to the public use but have not actually been used by the public as streets or alleys for more than five years, are not improved, and are not distinguishable as streets; that the owner of the property abutting upon the portions of the streets and alleys to be vacated has filed with the Council his written consent to such abandonment; that public travel will not be impeded in any degree by vacating the said portions of streets and alleys; that the Little Rock Boys' Club has established a club in the affected vicinity known as "South End Boys' Club," for the use of the Negro boys and girls in the south end of the City of Little Rock, and that vacating these. streets and alleys will enable the club to lay out baseball diamonds and other playing fields, all of which will be of great beref it to the youth who are now using and will continue to use the field; now, therefore., BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas: SECTION •1. Thek-City of Little :Rock, Ar"nsas,, hereby *releases, vacates and abandons all its rights, together with the rights of the public generally, in and to the portions of the streets and alleys described as follows: STATE STREET from its intersection with the north line, extended east, of Lot 6 of Block 3 of Callaway's Addition to the south line of said Addition; RIFFEL AVENUE from its intersection with the north line, extended east, of Lot 7 of Block 3 of Woodlawn Addition to its intersection with the east line of Fulton Street; IZARD STREET from its intersection with the southeast line of Riffel Avenue to the south line of Callaway's Addition; WEST 34th STREET from its intersection with the east line, extended north, of Lot 12, Block 7, of Callaway's Addition to its intersection with the east line of Fulton Street; WEST 35th STREET from the west line of State Street to the east line of Fulton Street; The south 50 feet of the north - and -south alley through Block 3, and all of the north- and -south alley through Blocks 8 and 11, of Callaway's Addition; The east- and -west alley lying between Lots 1 and 14 of Block 11 of Woodlawn Addition. SECTION 2. A copy of this ordinance, duly certified by the City Clerk, shall be filed in the office of the Pulaski County 1 Recorder and recorded in the deed records of Pulaski County. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. Passed: June 7 , 1954. Attest: yClerk Mayor
