HomeMy WebLinkAbout9658ORDINANCE NO. 9658 AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 9638 IN ITS EN- TIRETY, AMENDING SECTION 4 OF ORDINANCE NO. 7023, TO PROVIDE FOR BETTER ENFORCEMENT OF PROPER LABELING OF MILK, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: _,SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 9638 is hereby repealed is its entirety, and Section 4 of Ordinance No. 7023 is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 4. Labeling and Placarding. All bottles, pack- ages, cans, and other containers enclosing milli or any milk products defined in this ordinance shall be plainly ]a baled or marked with (1) the name of the contents as given in the defi- nitions of this ordinance; (2) the grade of the contents if said contents are graded under the provisions of this ordinance; (3) the word "Pasteurized" if the contents have been pasteurised; (4) the word "Raw" if the contents are raw; (5) the name and source of the vitamin used, in case of vitamin milk; and (6) the name of the producer or distributor. The label or mark shall be in letters of a size and kind approved by the Health Officer. (7) The label shall not in any respect be misleading in any particular. Every grocery store, restaurant, cafe, soda fountain or similar establishment selling or serving milk shall display at all times, in a place designated by the Health Officer, a card furnished by the Health Officer stating the lowest grade of milk handled and whether same is raw or pasteurized." SECTION c. That any person who shall violate the provisions of this ordinance, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not less than Twenty -five ($25.00) Dollars nor more than One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars, and each day of such violation shall consti- tute a separate offense. SECTION 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Unless the provisions of this ordinance are put into effect immediately, the peace, -2- health and safety of the citizens of the City of Little Rock will be adversely affected and, therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
