HomeMy WebLinkAbout9682ORDINANCE NO. 9682 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE RATE OF TAXATION OF PROPERTY FOR CITY PURPOSES FOR THE YEAR 1954 FOR VARIOUS FUNDS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK; REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 9661 PASSED OCTOBER 11, 1954s DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. That the rate of taxation on real and personal property in the City of Little Rock for certain City purposes for the year 1954 be and the same is hereby fixed and established and levied as follows: For General purposes in order to carry on the affairs of the City Government under Section 4, Article 12, of the Constitution of 18 �4, there is hereby levied a tax of Five (5) mills. For the purpose of paying bonds and interest of the City of Little Rock for General Obligation Rights -of -Way Street Improvement Bonds, issue of February 1, 1953, a tax of one and eight tenths (1.8) mills. For the purpose of paying bonds and interest of the City of Little Rock for Fire Apparatus and Fire Station Bonds, issue of February 1, 1953 a tax of one and seven tenths (1.7) mills. For the purpose of paying bonds and interest of the City of Little Rock General Obligation City Library bonds, issue of February, 1, 1954, a tax of five tenths ( .5) of a mill. For the purpose of paying bonds and interest of the City of Little Rock as may be required for bonds approved at the General Election held November 2, 1954, for the pur- pose of acquiring sites for and equipping garbage dis- posal plants, -a tax of three tenths ( .3) of a mill. For the purpose of paying bonds and interest for the City of Little Rock as may be required for bonds approved at the General Election held November 2, 1954, for the pur- pose of developing and improv in the Little Rock Municipal Airport, a tax of seven tenths T.7) of a mill. For the purpose of paying Policemen's Pensions, in ac- cordance with the provisions of Amendment No. 31 to the Constitution of the State of Arkansas, a tax of One (1) mill. For the purpose of maintaining the City Library, in ac- cordance with the provisions of Amendment No. 30 to the 'r r - iL 2 - Constitution of the State of Arkansas, a tax of One (1) mill. SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a certified copy of this ordinance to the County Clerk of Pulaski County to the end that the taxes herein recited may be extended on the tax books of Pulaski County and collected with the other taxes for the year 1954. SECTION 3. Ordinance No. 9661 of the Ordinances of the City of Little Rock, passed October 11, 1954, is hereby repealed. SECTION 4. Action under the terms of this ordinance is immediately necessary if the public health program, policy and pro- tection be not seriously curtailed, and as such curtailment would result in endangering the health, lives and property of the citizens of Little Rock, and this ordinance being necessary for the public peace, health and safety of the citizens of Little Rock, an emergency, therefore, is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the date of its passage.
