HomeMy WebLinkAbout135991 2 RESOLUTION NO. 13,599 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE LEASE OF PROPERTY 4 OWNED BY THE INSTITUTE IN BASIC LIFE PRINCIPALS TO 5 PROVIDE DOWNTOWN OFFICE SPACE FOR THE LITTLE ROCK 6 POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR ONE (1) -YEAR WITH OPTION TO 7 RENEW FOR FIVE (5) ADDITIONAL ONE (1) -YEAR TERMS, IN THE 8 AMOUNT OF ONE HUNDRED FORTY -EIGHT THOUSAND, FOUR 9 HUNDRED DOLLARS ($148,400.00) PER YEAR; AND FOR OTHER 10 PURPOSES. 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 WHEREAS, the Institute in Basic Life Principals, Inc., ( "IBLP ") owns property located at 300 Roosevelt Road in Little Rock, Arkansas, and is willing to lease approximately 12,440 square -feet of office space for use by the Little Rock Police Department's Downtown Division; and, WHEREAS, IBLP offered to lease this office space to the City of Little Rock for an annual rental fee of $10.00 per square foot plus a monthly maintenance fee of $2,000.00 per month; and, WHEREAS, the Little Rock Police Department's Downtown Division Office is currently located at 300 Roosevelt Road, and suitable office space has not been located in the area as an alternative to continuing the City's current lease with IBLP; and, WHEREAS, the Little Rock Board of Director recognizes the importance of providing office space for this Police Department Division in the downtown area and desires to lease approximately 12,440 square -feet of office space from IBLP for the proposed annual rental fee and monthly maintenance fee; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby authorizes the City Manager to enter into an agreement with the Institute in Basic Life Principals, in a form to be approved by the City Attorney, for the lease of approximately 12,440 square -feet of office space located at 300 Roosevelt Road in Little Rock for a total amount of One Hundred Forty-Eight Thousand, Four Hundred Dollars ($148,400.00) for the first year, retroactive to May 1, 2012; and hereby authorizes the City Manager to renew this lease five (5) times in one (I) -year increments if sufficient funds are budgeted for that purpose. Section 2. Funds for the monthly maintenance fee of $2,000.00 per month have been appropriated in the Police Department's Operating Budget, and funds for the first year rental fee in the amount of One Hundred Twenty -Four Thousand, Four Hundred Dollars ($124,400.00) are requested from the City's [Pagel of 2l 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 General Fund. Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the resolution. Section 4. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are inconsistent with the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
